Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed, has sponsored 355 Christians for the 2025 pilgrimage to Israel, reaffirming his commitment to religious harmony and support for the Christian community in the state.
The executive secretary of the Bauchi State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Ibrahim Yakubu Gwallang, announced this at the close of a three-day screening exercise for intending pilgrims held at the board’s headquarters on Friday.
Gwallang described the governor’s sponsorship as a strong demonstration of inclusive leadership, saying it reflects Bala’s dedication to fostering unity and ensuring that Christians in the state receive adequate support.
He urged the beneficiaries to pray for the government and the governor as well as conduct themselves responsibly throughout the pilgrimage.
He advised the intending pilgrims to maintain orderliness, submit only genuine documents and uphold the good image of Bauchi State during the holy journey.
Gwallang also expressed gratitude to Governor Mohammed for his continuous support, assuring that the Christian community would not disappoint him.
Also, the senior special assistant to the governor on Christian Affairs, Pastor Zakka Magaji, congratulated the selected pilgrims and encouraged them to be worthy ambassadors of the state.
He commended the governor for consistently identifying with the Christian community and prayed for God’s continued guidance and wisdom upon him.
The 2025 team leader, Mr Haruna Mandabs, pledged a smooth and well-coordinated pilgrimage, noting that all necessary arrangements were being put in place to ensure a seamless experience.
The three-day screening exercise was conducted by officials from the National Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), the Nigeria Immigration Service, the NDLEA, and medical personnel.
