Yobe Govt Moves Against Kidney Failure

The Yobe State government has taken a bold step to tackle the menace of kidney disease among its citizens.

Kidney disease can cause various symptoms that disturb people, including tiredness, nausea, and shortness of breath. Because it can have no warning, kidney disease is sometimes called a silent disease.

According to research, Chronic Kidney disease, also called chronic kidney failure, involves a gradual loss of kidney function. The kidneys filter wastes and excess fluids from the blood, which are then removed in the urine.

Advanced chronic Kidney disease can cause dangerous levels of fluid, electrolytes and wastes to build up in your body.

However, due to the ramp of kidney disease affecting some of the parts in the county and beyond the control.

In his reaction to the matter, the Emir of Bade and deputy chairman of the Yobe State Traditional Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Umar Abubakar Suleiman, commended Mai Mala administration’s efforts in addressing the rising cases of kidney failure in the area.

The Emir, who made the commendation during an interview with LEADERSHIP, said the ancient town of Gashua is suffering from the tragedy of chronic kidney disease leading to many deaths in the community, adding that the research to uncover the courses is crucial and timely.

He urged the residents of Gashua and other parts of the local government area to fully support the Biomedical Science Research and Training Centre (BioRTC) in its research.

The People of Bade Emirate are breathing a big sigh of relief now that scientific research on the root cause of CKD has been launched and is progressing steadily.

Chromic kidney disease has become a monster killer that has consumed about Ten Thousand people of Bade Emirate in the last One decade.

Virtually, every family in the Emirate was affected either directly or indirectly.

Now, the Yobe State governor has gone beyond the rhetoric and assembled a combined team of homegrown experts to carry out multi-million-naira forensic research on the root causes of the disease and propose solutions.

Yobe State government, through the Biomedical Science Research and Training Centre (BioRTC) in Yobe State University, has extended its ongoing kidney disease research to Damaturu, the state capital to understand potential risk factors better and improve public health interventions
