The Yobe State Government has announced the immediate closure of all boarding secondary schools across the state as a proactive measure to safeguard students. A statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Bukar Aji Bukar, directed the immediate closure of all boarding secondary schools pending improvement in the situation.
According to the statement, the decision followed the outcome of a security meeting between the Governor, Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni and security chiefs in the state are reviewing security incidents in schools in some parts of the country. The statement noted that Hon. Mai Mala emphasized the need to protect the lives and future of young people in the state.
Governor Buni called on the people of the state to pray for the leadership, security operatives, peace, and improved security in the country. According to reports, the government explained that the measure is necessary to safeguard students.
