The Emir of Damaturu, Alhaji (Dr) Shehu Hashimi II Ibn Umar Al-Amin El-Kanemi, has led a deeply spiritual and special prayer session in honour of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The session brought together hundreds of Islamic scholars, traditional titleholders and members of the public to seek Allah’s mercy and eternal rest for the departed elder statesman.
The Emir, who is also the Amirul Muminin of the Emirate, had earlier called on all district heads, village heads, ward heads, senior and junior traditional titleholders, Ulama, sons and daughters of the Emirate, and well-wishers to attend the event.
LEADERSHIP Weekend gathered that, thee prayer sessions were held in line with the directive of the Yobe State governor, Mai Mala Buni, who declared a public holiday to enable citizens across the state to participate in special prayers and mourning activities for the late president.
Governor Buni’s gesture was widely applauded as a mark of honour, loyalty and respect for the former Nigerian leader.
The scholars recited various verses from the Holy Qur’an and offered fervent supplications for President Buhari, describing him as a leader who lived a life of service, discipline and devotion to the nation.
The special Du’ah session in Damaturu stands as a reflection of the collective grief and admiration for a man whose name has become synonymous with integrity and patriotism in Nigerian history.
The monarch also commended Governor Buni for providing leadership and ensuring that the state joined the nation in mourning Buhari with dignity and reverence.
