As part of measures to reach out to the needy with food and non-food items, the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has supported 3840 households most of whom are vulnerable persons and indigents with food basket.
The executive secretary of the agency Dr Mohammed Goje has while speaking on the support said the 3840 vulnerable households were identified through 68 Community Based groups, Associations and Organisations for the assistance.
Goje said the distribution was inline with governor Mai Mala Buni’s directives that the agency should ensure effective and judicious delivery of the palliative to all nooks and crannies of the state
“Our discussion to reach out to the beneficiaries was in line with His Excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni’s directives to periodically identify persons in need and support them with food baskets.
“SEMA remained determined to support the people across the 17 local government areas of the state with a view to reducing the hardship necessitated by the removal of fuel subsidy in the country.
“Some of the support we rendered was as a result of requests and mails received from the groups and associations for support to their members,” the ES said.
He called on the leaders of the groups supported based on request to to be fair and just as they convey the food basket to their members. The beneficiaries of the palliative thanked governor Buni for the support, which they said was done at the right time.
