Yobe State Educational Trust Fund, (YETFund), has commenced the construction and revitalisation of public schools across the state.
The chairman Board of Trustees, (BOT) Engr. Mohammed Kachallah Abubakar, disclosed this during inspection tour of institutions in Yusfari, Karsuwa and Machina local government areas.
He said the tour was conducted to identify the most pressing needs and ensure new projects are precisely targeted for maximum impact.
Engr. Kachallah said, the interventions in 21 schools including boreholes, toilets, and furniture have been financed solely from the proceeds of a ₦1.5 billion investment, leaving the principal amount intact for future use.
According to him, this new initiative builds on YETFund’s previous successes, which have already led to renovated schools, improved learning environments, and increased student enrollment across several LGAs.
He said the projects will focus on building and renovating classrooms, constructing water and sanitation facilities, providing essential furniture and equipment as well as teacher training and capacity building.
He also reiterated that the projects are part of a broader mission to tackle systemic challenges in the public schools in the state.
Kachallah expressed appreciation to the state government and key stakeholders for their support, stressing that the positive reception from communities is a strong encouragement to scale up the programme.
“Our mission is to drive educational development and improve the quality of learning, we are focusing on facilitating through infrastructure, equipment support and teacher-development projects.”
LEADERSHIP gathered, the interventions, include the renovation of schools, drilling of boreholes, construction of VIP toilets and provision of essential materials in multiple LGAs such as Damaturu, Potiskum, Bade, Gujba, Fune, Geidam, Nguru and Nangere.
