No fewer than 2, 495 students of Yobe State University, matriculated at a virtual ceremony to kick-start the 2024/2025 academic session.
Speaking at the matriculation ceremony, the acting vice chancellor, Prof Bukar Jarmi, urged the newly admitted students to abide by the rules and regulations of the institution and participate in all activities of the university.
Jarmi, said the university has zero tolerance for cultism, hooliganism and corruption, adding that it would therefore spare no student caught on the wrong side of the law.
According to him, the institution has admitted students into 11 out of the 12 newly approved undergraduate programmes.
He said the newly commenced programmes include Nursing Science, Medical Laboratory, Radiography, Cyber Security, Information Technology and Zoology.
Others are Botany, Environmental Biology, Criminology and Security Studies, Library and Information Science as well as Environmental Standards, while LL.B Islamic Law programme is to commence next session.
He called on the students to take advantage of available scholarship facilities and the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) so as to complement the financial support of their parents and guardians.
In his goodwill message, the deputy vice-chancellor (Academic Services), Prof. Mohammed Musa Lawan, called on the students to abide by the rules and regulations governing the institution and shun all forms of social vices.
Also, the acting registrar of the university, Malam Ahmadu Garba, said the university is training the students to be the best in character and learning so that they can be good ambassadors of the institution.
In his address, the Dean Student Affairs, Prof. Sani Isa, thanked the university management, staff and the parents and guardians of the matriculating students for their support in actualising the successful ceremony.
