A youth advocacy group, The Renewed Hope Youth Alliance (RHYA), has urged the federal government to prioritise the development of the Ondo State seaport.
The group stated this while passing a vote of confidence in Ondo State Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, praising his administration’s performance in the first 100 days in office.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Monday, national coordinator of the group, Awoyinfa Opeoluwa, hailed the governor for fostering transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance.
Opeoluwa, however made a key demand for the rapid development of the Ondo State Sea Port which he described as a catalyst for economic transformation.
He urged President Bola Tinubu and the federal government to prioritise and support the port project.
According to him, the seaport would increase the state’s Internally Generated Revenue and create thousands of jobs for young people.
The group also appealed to the private sector, civil society, and international stakeholders to collaborate in making the port a reality.
Passing the confidence vote in the governor, he said, “We stand united behind Governor Aiyedatiwa. With continued collaboration, Ondo can become a beacon of hope and opportunity,” he said.
He hailed the governor for fostering transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance.
The national coordinator said Aiyedatiwa has been engaging the youth meaningfully and addressing their concerns.
“Governor Aiyedatiwa has laid the groundwork for a prosperous future for all citizens of Ondo State,” he stated.
The group highlighted notable achievements in education, healthcare, and infrastructure under the governor’s leadership.
He commended the governor’s youth-focused programmes, including skill acquisition and entrepreneurship initiatives.
“These programmes are already yielding results, and we are hopeful about their long-term impact on our communities,” he noted.
