Youth Parliament Dismisses Terrorism Financing Allegation Against Bauchi Gov

The Bauchi State Youth Parliament has strongly condemned what it described as an unfounded and reckless allegation linking Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed to the financing of terrorism, warning that such claims pose a threat to democratic stability, public trust, and peace in the state.

Speaker of the Parliament, Mohammed Musa disclosed this in Bauchi over the weekend.

He said the allegation against the Bauchi State governor was “false, misleading, and devoid of any factual or legal foundation,” accusing unnamed actors of attempting to weaponize sensitive national security narratives for political intimidation.

Speaker of the Youth Parliament, which represents young people drawn from Bauchi’s 31 state constituencies, emirates, 20 local government areas, and diverse communities, said he was deeply disturbed by the claim, noting that Bauchi State has recorded relative peace and social stability under Governor Mohammed’s administration.

“Bauchi State, under the leadership of Governor Bala Mohammed, has witnessed deliberate investments in security coordination, community engagement, and proactive response mechanisms.

“The administration has consistently worked with security agencies, traditional institutions, and local stakeholders to prevent conflict, protect lives, and sustain harmony across the state,” he said.

Musa warned that linking a sitting governor, constitutionally responsible for the safety and wellbeing of millions of citizens, to terrorism financing was not only defamatory but also capable of inciting fear, undermining confidence in governance, and weakening ongoing security efforts.

He also criticized what it described as attempts to use federal institutions for political witch-hunting or to coerce opposition leaders, insisting that democracy must be guided by fairness, due process, and respect for political plurality.

“False security-related allegations send dangerous signals to investors, discourage business confidence, constrain job creation, and ultimately threaten the livelihoods and aspirations of Bauchi’s youth,” the statement added.

“Governance should be judged by development outcomes and improved service delivery, not by the harassment of political opponents,” he said.

The speaker called on relevant authorities, the media, civil society organizations, religious leaders, and the people of Bauchi State to reject misinformation, uphold due process, and protect Nigeria’s democratic integrity.
