Controversial Nollywood actor turned cleric, Yul Edochie, has stirred the pot once again with a bold take on relationship dynamics, urging men to walk away from partners who do not accord them the respect they deserve.
In a candid post shared via X (formerly Twitter), the actor cautioned men against enduring emotional “nonsense” in the name of preserving a marriage or a long-term relationship. According to Edochie, a man’s dignity should never be a subject of compromise.
“Men, stop tolerating nonsense in the name of marriage or relationship,” the post read. “If your wife or girlfriend doesn’t respect you, dump her immediately and get someone who respects you. Your respect as a man is non-negotiable.”
Edochie’s comments come at a time when his own personal life remains a subject of intense public scrutiny. Since April 2022, when he announced actress Judy Austin as his second wife and the mother of his son, the actor has been a polarising figure in the Nigerian digital space. The fallout from that revelation led his first wife, May Edochie, to file for divorce and demand ₦100 million in damages, a legal battle that continues to trend.
The self-proclaimed founder of the True Salvation Ministry (TSM) is no stranger to giving unconventional advice. In 2024, he famously suggested that unmarried women should take the lead and propose to their partners if they feel the relationship is stalling.
