As the yuletide season approaches, some Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs), the Lifesquare Leadership Initiative in partnership with the Adeyemi Ilorin Biodun Adekoya (AIB) Foundation have donated food items to over 1000 persons living with disabilities (PWDs), in Abuja.

The initiative, a yearly tradition, seeks to deliver both material support and emotional uplift to communities in need.

Speaking at the event which held in the Karmajiji community of People With Disabilities (PWDs), in Abuja on Thursday, managing director of Lifesquare Leadership Initiative, Dr. Susan Ake Daniel expressed her organisation’s commitment to serving the PWD community.

According to her, “We are here to deliver vital support to the Karmajigi community. We came to put happy smiles on their faces because we know Christmas is coming, and we are here to give back to society”

During the outreach, Dr. Daniel revealed that the initiative aimed to reach nearly 2,000 people, providing them with gifts to brighten their holiday season.

She further said that the gesture is part of a broader, ongoing commitment, noting that, “this is a yearly ritual that we do, giving back to society not just in this camp alone but across other communities as well. From January to December, we dedicate ourselves to supporting people and making a difference.

“We are distributing these gifts as part of our little effort to empower and uplift them”.

While acknowledging the contributions of the federal government, Dr. Daniel noted that more support was needed and urged the government to increase its focus on the PWD community, adding that “they need assistance, and I know that with collective efforts—whether from the government, private organizations, or even foreign bodies—we can make a significant impact.”

Responding to this development, the chief of the community, Mohammed Suleiman Katsina, expressed gratitude while praying for more goodwill for the benefactors.

He used the opportunity to seek help from Tinubu’s government to better the lives of those living in the community.
