A non-governmental organisation (NGO), the Omalife Rescue Foundation, has distributed foodstuffs and clothing materials to residents of Chibiri community in Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The intervention was part of the foundation’s 2025 Food and Clothes Fiesta, an outreach programme aimed at supporting vulnerable families and easing the burden of worsening economic hardship on low-income communities.
The event attracted large numbers of beneficiaries, especially women, children and the elderly, who received assorted food items and clothing to meet their basic needs.
The founder of Omalife Rescue Foundation, Dr Omanibe Sanusi, said the initiative was driven by compassion and a desire to give hope to the underprivileged in society.
She said poverty, hunger and inadequate care for children remain major challenges in many communities, stressing that collective efforts by individuals and organisations were required to complement the government’s interventions.
She said the foundation had made it a yearly tradition to organise the food and clothes fiesta as part of its broader mandate to provide emergency relief and promote human dignity among vulnerable populations.
Mrs Sanusi said the Chibiri community was selected for the 2025 outreach after an assessment revealed significant needs among the residents, particularly widows, orphans and low-income households.
Some of the beneficiaries lauded the organisers, saying the items would cushion the effects of economic challenges on them.
In appreciation, the chief of Chibiri, Chief Alhaji Ishaku Sakokwai and the Onu of Igala Kuje, Chief Alhaji Hassan Khalid, who were present at the event, commended the foundation for considering their area and prayed to God to bless them.
