The Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Dr. Mohammed Goje, has disclosed that Governor Mai Mala Buni has approved a yuletide food support package targeting 8,000 vulnerable beneficiaries across Yobe State, as part of deliberate efforts to promote inclusive celebrations during the Christmas and New Year festivities.

Dr. Goje made the disclosure in a statement issued in Damaturu, where he explained that the seasonal intervention which include items such as rice, vegetable oil, spaghetti, and semovita will cover 1,000 direct beneficiaries and 7,000 indirect beneficiaries, cutting across vulnerable households in various communities of the state.

The ES said all necessary logistics arrangements have been concluded to ensure smooth, transparent, and timely distribution of the support, in line with the governor’s directive that no deserving household should be excluded from the benefits of any government interventions.

He said the yuletide support is designed to complement household food baskets, ease the economic burden on vulnerable families, and reinforce family unity at a time when many households face financial pressure.

“The essence of this intervention is to ensure that vulnerable families are able to celebrate the season with dignity and a sense of belonging.

“It reflects Governor Buni’s commitment to inclusive governance and his belief that moments of national and religious celebrations should be shared by all, regardless of social or economic status,” Dr. Goje said.

The SEMA boss noted that the initiative aligns with the Buni administration’s broader humanitarian and social welfare agenda, which places priority on cushioning the effects of economic hardship, strengthening community resilience, and promoting social cohesion.

He added that the intervention also seeks to foster peace and harmony by ensuring that vulnerable households feel supported and valued during significant cultural and religious periods.

Dr. Goje assured that SEMA would continue to collaborate with relevant stakeholders, community leaders, and partners to ensure that the support reaches the intended beneficiaries and delivers meaningful impact.
