The order was announced by the state commissioner for information, Malam Ibrahim Magaji Dosara, via the local state radio.

The affected media organisations include Radio Nigeria, Pride FM, NTA and Gamji FM among others.

According to the commissioner, the closure of the media houses was based on the violation of the state security council directive on the suspension of political activities following the upsurge in banditry in parts of the state.
