Zamfara, Humanitarian Partners Deepen Collaboration To Support Crisis Victims

The Zamfara State Government and humanitarian partners have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration to improve support for vulnerable populations affected by insecurity and other humanitarian crises across the state.

The commitment was reached at the monthly Humanitarian Sector Coordination Meeting convened by the State Ministry of Humanitarian and Relief Matters on Thursday in Gusau.

The meeting brought together humanitarian agencies, development organisations and other key stakeholders to review ongoing interventions, assess emerging needs and enhance coordination of humanitarian activities for July 2026.

Declaring the meeting open, the Commissioner for Humanitarian and Relief Matters, Salisu Musa Tsafe, represented by the Acting Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mrs. Ummulkhairi Abubakar Usman, commended humanitarian partners for their continued support to communities impacted by insecurity.

Usman stressed the importance of sustained collaboration, timely information sharing and coordinated planning between government and humanitarian actors to improve the effectiveness of relief efforts.

“Effective coordination remains essential for avoiding duplication of efforts, identifying critical gaps and ensuring that humanitarian assistance reaches those most in need,” she said.

She also reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to providing an enabling environment for humanitarian operations and strengthening partnerships that improve the welfare of affected communities.

The ministry also presented its July 2026 Humanitarian Situation Report, highlighting the humanitarian situation across the state, emerging needs, ongoing government interventions and priority areas requiring collective action.

Humanitarian partners, in turn, briefed participants on their sectoral activities, achievements, operational challenges and planned interventions for the month under review.

Speaking on behalf of the partners, the representative of the Nigeria INGO Forum, Musa Baba, commended the ministry for sustaining regular coordination meetings, describing them as vital platforms for information sharing, collaboration and accountability.

Baba reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria INGO Forum and its member organisations to continue working closely with the Zamfara State Government to deliver coordinated, efficient and people-centred humanitarian assistance.

At the end of the meeting, participants agreed to strengthen inter-agency collaboration, improve data sharing and response planning, address operational challenges and explore opportunities for joint interventions to better serve crisis-affected communities across Zamfara State’s 14 local government areas.
