A Senatorial aspirant for Zamfara North, Senator Tijjani Yahaya Kaura, has declared that his emergence as winner of the Zamfara North Senatorial primary election is authentic.
Addressing journalists at his country home in Kaura Namoda, Senator Kaura said the primary was conducted by members of the election panel deployed by the National Headquarters of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He alleged that the Chairman of the panel was “hijacked by anti-democratic elements to an unknown destination.”
Kaura further alleged that the Panel Chairman was abducted and single-handedly announced a purported result declaring Senator Sahabi Yau as winner, while the majority of the panel members jointly collated results and declared him (Kaura) as winner.
“The abduction of the Panel Chairman was an attempt to truncate democracy, which the electorate will not succumb to,” he said.
He dismissed claims by opponents over the purported declaration of another person as winner, describing such act as null and void and of no effect.
According to him, APC members turned out en masse to exercise their civic responsibility by electing him as their Senatorial candidate for the 2027 general election.
Kaura expressed appreciation to the electorate for the confidence reposed in him to represent Zamfara North Senatorial District at the National Assembly.
He urged stakeholders at all levels to respect the will of the electorate in the senatorial district and the announcement made by members of the primary election committee.
