Zulum Unveils 20 Commissioner-nominees

Borno State governor, Babagana Umara Zulum has forwarded a list of State Commissioner nominees to the Speaker, Borno State House of Assembly, Alhaji Abdulkarim Lawan for confirmation.

This was contained in a circular issued by Zulum to the state Assembly, seeking the confirmation of the names of the nominees as commissioners.

The appointments of the new members of the State Executive Council (SEC) came about 40 days after the dissolution of the previous state cabinet last month ahead of political parties’ primaries.

The list of nominees for confirmation as commissioners include: Professor Mohammed Arab Alhaji, Hon. Pogu Lawan Chbok, Arch. Isa Garba Haladu, Hon. Abatcha Umar Ngala, Engineer Mustapha Gubio and Engineer Lawan Abba Wakilbe.

Others include Hon. Hajiya Zuwaira Gambo, Engr. Tijani Alkali Goni, Dr. Ali Bunu Mustapha, Hon. Sugun Mai Meleh, Engr. Babagana Mustapha Malumbe, Hon. Saina Buba, Hon. Yerima Lawan Kareto, Engineer Yuguda Saleh Vungas, Hon. Abubakar Tijani, Hon. Buba Lawan Walama, Hon. Adamu Alhaji Lawan, Hon. Kaka Shehu Lawan, Arch. Yerima Saleh and Hon. Babakura Abba Jato.

Among the 20 nominees forwarded to the house for confirmation, 16 former commissioners were retained, two commissioners were dropped, while four new commissioners were appointed to join the new cabinet.

Those dropped included former State Commissioner of Health, Mrs. Juliana Bitrus and former State Commissioner of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Engineer Mohammed Kabiru Wanori ,while those newly appointed included Prof. Mohammed Arab Alhaji, Hon. Pogu Lawan Chibok, Hon. Abatcha Umar Ngala and Dr. Ali Bunu Mustapha.

Governor Zulum expressed the appreciation of the executive arm of government to the honourable house members for their support, cooperation and close working relationship.

He also reassured the house of his continuous support and cooperation to serve the people of Borno better and rebuild the state successfully.
