A fire outbreak in Gusau Central Market in Zamfara State has claimed one person and burnt several shops.
The disaster occurred at 9 pm on Tuesday in the furniture section of the state capital’s largest market.

The commander of the Nigerian Fire Service, New Market Office, Hamza Mohammed, said a shop owner, whose name was not disclosed, died while attempting to put out the fire which started from his store.
Firefighters from the state command battled for several hours to check the inferno, but it spread to other shops.
