A lone accident involving a truck along Jebba-Ilorin expressway in Kwara State has claimed the life of one person on Monday.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the incident occurred at about 12.13pm when the truck carrying textile materials had a burst tyre while on motion.
It was gathered that the driver of the truck lost control as a result of the burst tyre leading to the accident.
The spokesman of the Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle, confirmed the accident and casualty in a statement.
Adekunle said: “Today, Monday 29th September, 2025 at 12:13hrs, Kwara State Fire Service responded to reports of a truck carrying textile materials that suffered a tyre burst and lost control at Pasa village on the Lagos–Jebba expressway, Ilorin.
“Our crews immediately mobilised to the scene, secured the area and rendered emergency assistance. One life was lost at the scene. One person sustained critical injuries and was conveyed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.
“Preliminary information indicates the truck’s tyre burst caused the driver to lose control. A full investigation is ongoing to establish the circumstances that led to the crash.
“The director of Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade Olumuyiwa, reaffirms commitment to rapid emergency response and urges motorists to maintain vehicle tyres, observe safe speeds and keep a safe following distance to reduce the risk of similar incidents.”
