10th NASS Inauguration: You Are A True Patriot,  Group Hails Betara

The United Youth Initiative For Good Governance has lauded Hon. Mukhtar Aliyu Betara as a true patriot who is interested in the growth and stability of the country and whose antecedents as a true party man must be commended.

The group in a statement signed by its National Coordinator Hon. Abba Bukar Abba Masta and Spokesman Comrade Nwokoma Messiah made this known while reacting to the emergence of Rt. Hon Tajudeen Abbas as the Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives. The group while congratulating Tajudeen Abbas, said those who initially showed interest in the position should not be seen as enemies but as partners in deepening the Nigerian democratic space.

The group said though it was not comfortable with the process that led to the emergence of leaders in the two Chambers of the National Assembly which it said negated democratic process.

The group congratulated the new President of the Senate Sen. Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas on their emergence urging them to carry all members along irrespective of party affiliations stressing that Nigerians will be expecting them to deliver quality legislations that will better the lives of the people.

On Hon Mukhtar Aliyu Betara, the group described him as a patriot who will help stabilise the House under Tajudeen Abbas. “We all know the antecedents of Hon Betara. He is an exciting fellow who will add value to the 10th National Assembly and should be appreciated for heeding the call to step down from the Speakership position. It shows his respect for elders and he must be encouraged to help stabilise the House as a ranking member” the statement added.
