The Government of Adamawa State has settled the medical bill of 11 persons currently receiving treatment at the specialist hospital for various degrees of injury sustained from a communal clash in Lamurde Local Government Area of the state.

The state Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, made this known when she visited the hospital to identify with the victims of the crisis.

The deputy governor urged the warring factions to set aside their grievances and work towards achieving peace.

“As a government, we pray for the quick recovery of the patients.

“Our people should know that development can take place where there is no peace”.

The Chief Medical Director of Specialist Hospital, Dr Dauda Wadinga, appreciated the state government for its prompt response to the situation.

He confirmed that the patients are recuperating quickly and would soon be discharged.
Meanwhile, a Bachama group known as Pene Da Bwatiye Development Association (PDBDA) Worldwide has demanded a probe into the alleged killing of 12 women during a protest in Rigangun and Waduku area of Lamurde local government area

In a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by its General Secretary, Mr Emmanuel Pwakavi Bapatu, the association also expressed grief and outrage over the incident, which it said occurred on July 24, 2025.
According to the group, the women were unarmed and had gathered to protest peacefully over the delayed arrival of military personnel to quell earlier violence in the area.

The association alleged that the women, who were reportedly carrying leaves and singing peace songs, were shot by soldiers deployed to the community to maintain order.

The PDBDA described the incident as a “massacre,” stressing that the women were not engaged in any violence and posed no threat to security personnel.

The association linked the incident to earlier attacks that erupted on July 7 and again on July 17, 2025, noting that despite the community’s efforts to promote peace, the situation has continued to deteriorate.
Condemning the alleged actions of the soldiers involved, the group said attacking peaceful protesters amounted to a gross violation of human rights and rules of engagement, and called for decisive action.

Also, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has deployed Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, DIG Bzigu Yakubu Kwazhi Dali, Force Headquarters, Abuja, to restore normalcy in Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa state

DIG Dali called on youths, who are the vanguard of either peace or violence, to actively and sincerely engage in partial dialogue and reconciliation efforts to address the root causes of the crisis.

He said the solution to the crisis lies in the hands and hearts of the people, as security forces alone cannot resolve the situation.

The IGP called on community, religious and traditional rulers, especially the elders, as well as youths who are drivers, to embrace peace.

The police Boss added, “I implore the good people of Lamurde to eschew animosity and embrace understanding and partnership immediately”

He added that dialogue and partnership are the permanent, constructive paths to lasting peace and development.

He urged the community to turn the moment of sorrow into a catalyst for an unshakable commitment to unity, tolerance and respect.

Earlier, the state Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, reiterated the government’s renewed commitment to ensuring peace, unity, and development across the state.

Farauta thanked the IGP for identifying with the government and the entire people of the state during such a difficult moment of grief and pain.

She acknowledged the combined effort of security outfits in maintaining peace, law, and order thus far, noting that the government will continue to work with the people in an effort to build peace.

She assured that the government would never compromise the safety and security of its citizens, hence Governor Fintiri’s efforts towards maintaining peace and stability despite all odds.
