Eleven terrorists have surrendered to troops of Operation Hadin Kai, as soldiers killed eight others and arrested two suspected insurgents’ logistics suppliers during intensified military operations across Borno State.

The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, North-East Operation Hadin Kai, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.

According to Uba, the sustained offensive under Operation Desert Sanity V forced the terrorists to lay down their arms along the Azir–Wajiroko axis on Saturday, January 10, 2026.

He said, “Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have sustained intense offensive operations against Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists across Borno State, recording notable successes in clearance, fighting patrols and blocking operations.”

“Under Operation DESERT SANITY V, sustained pressure along the Azir–Wajiroko axis on 10 January 2026 forced 11 terrorist fighters to surrender along with their AK-47 rifles and assorted ammunition,” he added.

The statement further revealed that on Friday, January 9, troops carried out extensive clearance operations in the Bulaagalda cluster, destroying several active terrorist enclaves and camps at Dagumba, Bonne, Yaganari, Gosuri, and Umchile including those belonging to notorious commanders Abu Nazir and Abu Ahmed.

“During the operation, troops dismantled life-support structures, degraded terrorist logistics and recovered items including terrorist flags and weapons as well as magazines,” the statement read.

Similarly, offensive operations in Yale and Bula Gaida forced terrorists to flee, leading to the destruction of additional logistics facilities and the recovery of more weapons, ammunition, and a general-purpose machine gun.

Uba added that troops, acting on credible intelligence, engaged ISWAP elements between Sojiri and Kayamla villages, neutralising eight terrorists and recovering several AK-47 rifles.

“Additionally, troops arrested two suspected terrorist logistics collaborators at Gubio LGA for supplying terrorists with logistics,” he said.

Uba assured that troops remain resolute in maintaining offensive pressure, dismantling terrorist networks, and restoring lasting peace across the North-East.

He also confirmed that troops recently intercepted a Peugeot vehicle at the Cameroon–Nigeria border gate conveying six bags of urea fertiliser, a key ingredient used in making improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

“Both the vehicle and the fertiliser were immediately taken into military custody,” he stated.

Further investigation, according to Uba, led to the arrest of the fertiliser dealer and the recovery of an additional six bags, bringing the total seizure to twelve.

“All suspects and recovered items are currently in custody for further investigation and necessary legal action,” he added.
