He stated this in commemoration of the Democracy Day celebration in Nigeria, saying that, the people’s support to government policies and programmes has undoubtedly strengthened democracy in the state.

The governor noted that 26 years of uninterrupted democratic rule in Nigeria have given the people a sense of participation and ownership of the government.

According to him, the appointment of youths as commissioners, chief executives of government agencies, special advisers, special assistants and focal persons has enhanced governance in the state.

“lt is gratifying that democracy has provided opportunity for the people to have their voices heard and participate in governance, and to own the government,” he said.

He added, “ We have maintained an open-door policy to give the people the opportunity to contribute to governance, and this has given the populace a true sense of belonging and ownership.”

Buni said there is a prosperous future for the state and country with the active participation of youth in politics and engagement in governance.

He assured more dividends of democracy to improve the lives of the people, saying that all ongoing projects would be completed for the government to have value for its money, and for the projects to be beneficial to the people.

He urged the people to take advantage of the rainy season to embrace agriculture, support security agencies and promote peaceful coexistence in the state.

Buni called for more cooperation for democracy to thrive and improve good governance.
