The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano State Command, has announced a significant breakthrough in its ongoing “Operation Hana Maye,” aimed at combating drug trafficking and abuse in the state.

Between January 17 and January 26, under the leadership of State Commander Abubakar Idris-Ahmad, the agency arrested 198 drug suspects and dismantled 21 illicit drug joints.

The spokesperson for the NDLEA, Mr. Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari, stated in a press release that of the 198 suspects arrested, 177 are male, and 21 are female.

The operation targeted various locations, including a club that had been transformed into an illicit drug joint, where 61 suspects were arrested. Additionally, 42 suspects were apprehended at the Dan Agundi graveyard, and 21 drug joints, including those at the Sheka graveyard and Sheka Obajana, were dismantled.

The confiscated illicit substances include Exol five rubber solution, “suck and die,” cannabis, and other dangerous drugs. The NDLEA reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating drug abuse and trafficking, focusing on intensifying efforts to identify and apprehend traffickers, disrupt supply chains, and provide necessary support and rehabilitation to those affected by drug addiction.
