2 In Police Net Over Alleged Possession Of Armoury In Lagos

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested two suspects for allegedly possessing caches of armoury in the Mushin area of the state.

The suspects were identified as a 42-year-old man, Sherrif Mustapha, and a 28-year-old woman, Suturat Lateef.

Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Benjamin Hundeyin disclosed that the two suspects were nabbed through intelligence provided by the members of the public.

“Thank you, Lagosians for the timely information. Together, we can overcome insecurity.

“This morning at about 1am, responding to a distress call about the presence of armed men on Agoro Street, Mushin, our tactical team based in Surulere swiftly moved in and arrested Sherrif Mustapha ‘m’ aged 42 and Suturat Lateef ‘f’ aged 28 while one other escaped,” Hundeyin said in the statement.

He added that the suspects led the police to Number 1, Moshalashi Street, Mushin where the arms were recovered.

The weapons include 2 AK 47 rifles, one (1) K2 Assault rifle, 1 Red Rufer rifle, 3 pump action rifles, 2 locally made single barrel pistols, 5 magazines and 57 live cartridges.

The rest are 70 5.56 live ammunition, 27 9mm ammunition, 1expended 5.56 ammunition, 1 dagger, 3 walkie talkies and 9 international passports.

The police image-maker added that the investigation was ongoing even as he urged the public to support the security agencies in the state.
