Security operatives have confirmed the attack on mourners in Dogon Noma community during burial ceremony in Kajuru local government area of Kaduna State.
Confirming the incident to LEADERSHIP, a top security officer who do not want his name mentioned as he was not permitted to speak said four vehicles including the official vehicle of the chairman of Kajuru local government area, Dauda Madaki was burnt by the attackers.
The security source stated that the incident occurred on Monday.
The security source dismissed the report of missing people after the attack in the area but further confirmed that two residents were killed when gunmen invaded Ugom village in Kajuru local government area.
The security official who described the attack area as bandits zone in Kajuru said security agents were trailing the bandits. “No, we don’t have that issue of missing people. I have been following the matter, I spoke with some security officers in Kajuru. What I know is that two people were killed and about four vehicles including the official vehicle of Kajuru local government chairman was burnt by the suspected bandits when they attacked the area. That axis you are talking about is bandits zone,” he said.
Eyewitnesses had said mourners fled when the attackers opened fire near the burial site.
However, Kaduna State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, promised to get back over the incident but did not at the time of filing this report.
