A suspected 20-year-old serial killer and phone snatcher identified as Umar Auwal alias ‘Abba Dujal’ has surrendered himself to the police in Kano State.

Spokesperson of the Kano State Police Command, Abdullahi Kiyawa, in a statement yesterday, noted that the suspect, who is a resident of Wudil local government area of the state, confessed to his involvement in multiple violent crimes in the state and its environs.

According to him, “Umar Auwal has confessed his involvements in different cases of Culpable Homicide, Armed Robbery, Motorcycle and Phone Snatching in different parts of the State and Jigawa State, with the following details: At Sabon Gari Quarters, Kano – He confessed to have stabbed one ‘Boka’ to death and stole his Infinix Hot 40i mobile phone, which he sold for N40,000.

“At Kurna Quarters, Kano – Umar also confessed to stabbing another person to death and stealing his Samsung S26 phone, which he sold for N160,000.

“In Jigawa State – He confessed to killing a man in Ringim LGA, Jigawa State, and stealing his motorcycle, which he sold for N300,000.”

While noting that the development followed a sustained clearance raid operations conducted by the Command at strategic locations in the state to rid it of criminal elements and ensure the protection of life and properties of citizens, Kiyawa said, the suspect is currently in custody at the Command’s Homicide Section, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for detailed investigation and further necessary actions.
