The judge, Sani Mohammed, however, gave the convicts N4,000 option of fine each.

The prosecutor, Ayomide Adeyanju, had told the court that one Mohammed Abdullazeez, Iwuchukw and Alhassan Abdullhadi of behind Bristol Academy, Karu, Abuja, reported the matter at the Karu Police Station, on Oct. 5.

“The complainants alleged that the convicts jointly conspired and trespassed into their farms, located at the above mentioned address, and stole tubers of yam worth N75,000.

“During police investigation, some of the tubers of yam valued at N45,000 were recovered, while efforts to recover the remaining tubers of yam valued at N30,000, proved abortive,” Adeyanju said.

He said that the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 80, 348 and 287 of the Penal Code.
