Sokoto South Senator, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has alleged that Nigeria’s national budgets for the past three consecutive years—2023, 2024 and 2025—were implemented, saying the funds appropriated for their implementation have be diverted for vote-buying.

Tambuwal made the claim in a viral video clip circulating on social media, where he was seen addressing a group of his supporters at a gathering in Sokoto.

“I’m a Senator and honestly, all the budgets we did in 2023, 2024, 2025 have not been actualised. Where is the money? It has been diverted, so they can buy votes,” he said in the clip. However, he did not provide specific evidence to back up his claims in the video.

Tambuwal, a former governor of Sokoto State, has been serving in the Senate since 2023. Earlier this year, he defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as part of ongoing political realignments ahead of 2027 elections.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official response from federal authorities regarding the allegations by the prominent lawmaker.
