World football governing body FIFA, on Tuesday, announced a new ‘Supporter Entry Tier’ for the 2026 World Cup tournament, offering fans of qualified nations a fixed-price ticket of $60 (£47) for each of the 104 matches.
This initiative comes in response to significant criticism regarding dynamic pricing, which saw standard Category One tickets, such as for an England versus Croatia fixture, reach as much as $700 (£550).
The new tier aims to provide greater support for travelling fans, allowing supporters from participating nations a more affordable option to attend matches. The move follows widespread discontent over the previous pricing structure.
FIFA has confirmed that it has already received 20 million ticket requests during the current Random Selection Draw phase. However, the Supporter Entry Tier is exclusively available to fans whose national teams have successfully qualified for the 2026 World Cup.
Sales for this new tier will be managed directly by the individual Participating Member Associations (PMAs), each of which will establish its own eligibility criteria and application process.
Under the new allocation system, 50% of each PMA’s ticket allocation will fall within the most affordable categories: the Supporter Value Tier (40%) and the newly introduced Supporter Entry Tier (10%). The remaining tickets will be evenly distributed between the Supporter Standard Tier and the Supporter Premier Tier.
The Random Selection Draw ballot is still open until Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 16:00 BST.
FIFA, operating as a not-for-profit organisation, stated that all revenue generated from the World Cup is reinvested to “fuel the growth of men’s, women’s and youth football throughout the 211 FIFA Member-Associations.” The organisation anticipates reinvesting over 90% of its budgeted investments for the 2023-2026 cycle back into the sport, with the ultimate goal of significantly boosting global football development.
