2027: APC Rakes In Over N20bn From Sale Of Aspirants’ Forms

The All Progressives Congress (APC), has generated over N20 billion from the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms to aspirants, seeking its ticket to contest various offices at the 2027 general election.

APC pegged the cost of presidential forms at N100 million, governorship – N50 million; Senate – N20 million, House of Representatives – N10 million and State Houses of Assembly – N5 million.

The ruling party however gave concession to female aspirants, youths and physically challenged contenders who were to pay for the expression of interest form and 50% of the prescribed nomination fees each.

APC sold the forms between April 25 and May 6, 2026 being last Wednesday after extending the period for two times.

The extension witnessed a surge in aspirants who turned up to obtain the forms both at national level for presidential, governorship and National Assembly contenders and state level for State Houses of Assembly aspirants.

At the close of sale, two presidential aspirants, President Bola Tinubu and Osifo Stanley; about 90 governorship contenders in 28 states while several contestants for the 469 National Assembly(Senate 109 and House of Representatives 360) as well as 990 State Houses of Assembly aspirants bought the forms.

 

Following the close of the submission of completed forms on Thursday, May 7, APC commenced the screening of aspirants on Friday, May 8, 2026.

 

LEADERSHIP reports that APC commenced the exercise with serving governors seeking re-election and those aspiring for the Senate ahead of the forthcoming primary elections.

 

While the governorship primary election is scheduled for May 20, that of Senate is slated for May 18, 2026.

 

Those who appeared before the committee led by the APC national chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda include, the governor of Niger state, Hon. Mohammed Umaru Bago; Benue state governor, Rev. Fr Hyacinth Alia, governor of Kaduna state, Sen. Uba Sani; Enugu state governor, Peter Mbah and Cross River state governor, Bassey Otu.

 

Others are Kebbi state governor, Dr Nasir Idris; governor of Delta state,

 

Sheriff Oborevwori; Plateau state governor, Caleb Mutfwang, Katsina state governor, Dikko Radda; governor of Kano state, Abba Kabir Yusuf: Zamfara state governor, Dauda Lawal and Sokoto state governor, Ahmad Aliyu.

Those screened for senatorial primary election include; governor of Adamawa state, Ahmadu Fintiri, governor of Gombe state, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya and Ogun state governor, Dapo Abiodun.

 

The screening exercise for serving governors ended on Saturday, the one for fresh governorship aspirants starts the same day and will terminate on Sunday.

 

Also, the screening of Senate and House of Representatives aspirants commenced on Saturday and will end on Sunday beginning from 10am each day.

 

Leadership of the party advised aspirants to attend the screening exercise punctually and with all required documents and credentials.
