Abdulhafiz Umar Barau, popularly known as Dan Isan Gusau/Magayakin Tsafe, has declared his intention to contest the Zamfara Central Senatorial District seat on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Barau made the declaration shortly after completing his registration as a member of the party.

He said the decision followed extensive consultations with stakeholders, community leaders, youths and political associates across the district.

According to him, his aspiration is anchored on the need to provide focused and accountable representation at the National Assembly.

“I am stepping forward not out of personal ambition, but from the conviction that Zamfara Central deserves responsive and accountable representation at the National Assembly,” he stated.

He outlined his legislative priorities to include improved security, youth empowerment, agricultural revitalisation, education development and the promotion of transparent governance.

Barau also disclosed plans to return to the country to commence a comprehensive round of consultations and grassroots engagements across the senatorial district.

“My commitment is to listen first, build consensus and present a people-driven legislative agenda that reflects the real needs of our communities,” he added.

He reaffirmed his loyalty to the ADC and pledged to work with the party leadership to strengthen internal democracy and unity ahead of the next electoral cycle.

The Zamfara Central Senatorial District is considered a key constituency in the state’s political landscape. Barau expressed confidence that collective efforts would usher in renewed representation anchored on integrity and service.

Further details of his planned engagements and policy framework are expected to be unveiled in the coming weeks.
