Supporters under the umbrella of the Tinubu Mega Group (TMG) yesterday staged a “National Unity Rally” in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term bid ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The rally attracted participants from states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), bringing together organisations comprising professionals, civil society groups, youth associations, religious leaders, artisans, traders, women groups and grassroots mobilisers.
At the event, the coalition formally endorsed President Tinubu for another four years in office, insisting that ongoing economic and structural reforms initiated by the administration require continuity beyond 2027.
Addressing the gathering, National Spokesperson of the Tinubu Mega Group, Tijani Ali Danjuma, said the rally reflected the collective support of Nigerians who believe in stability, continuity and national development.
According to him, despite prevailing economic challenges and global pressures, the Tinubu administration has demonstrated courage and direction in confronting longstanding national problems.
He highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects, local refining initiatives, economic stabilisation efforts, increased support for state governments, social intervention programmes and reforms aimed at strengthening governance and attracting investment.
“The student loan programme has opened new opportunities for young Nigerians. Efforts are ongoing to strengthen the naira, improve food production and reposition the economy for long-term growth,” he said.
Danjuma added that the turnout at the rally showed that support for the President cuts across regions, professions and religious affiliations.
“To those spreading false narratives and attempting to create division, our answer is simple — the people have spoken. Nigerians are choosing continuity over confusion and progress over propaganda,” he declared.
Speaking on behalf of Nigerian professionals, Dr. Tabuko Kennedy said stakeholders across critical sectors of the economy were backing the administration because reforms require consistency and time to yield results.
Representing doctors, lawyers, engineers, academics, entrepreneurs, creatives and artisans, Kennedy argued that abandoning ongoing reforms midway could negatively impact national development.
“As professionals, we understand that difficult reforms are never easy at the beginning, but we also know that abandoning reforms halfway can damage national progress,” he said.
Kennedy also declared that “there is no vacancy in Aso Rock in 2027,” a statement that drew loud cheers from supporters at the venue.
Also speaking, cleric Bishop Kola Oyedepo described the current phase of Nigeria’s development as a period requiring patience, sacrifice and collective responsibility.
According to him, reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration, including infrastructure development, student loan initiatives and efforts to strengthen local refining capacity, are necessary foundations for long-term national growth.
“Every wise builder must first lay a solid foundation. Nigeria today is rebuilding and restructuring its foundation for a stronger future,” he stated.
Similarly, Islamic cleric Sheikh Abubakar Mustapha called for peace, unity and support for ongoing national development efforts, stressing that meaningful reforms require time and perseverance.
He urged Nigerians not to allow division and bitterness to weaken the country, adding that stability and continuity remain essential for sustainable development.
Observers described the rally as one of the largest political mobilisation efforts witnessed in Abuja in recent months, with participants displaying banners and placards bearing inscriptions such as “20 Million Nigerians Support Tinubu,” “Continuity for National Development,” and “One Voice, One Vision, One Nigeria.”
The rally ended peacefully with prayers for national unity, economic recovery and sustained democratic governance in the country.
