Ruling  All Progressives Congress (APC) has endorsed Nigeria’s president, Bola Tinubu, and Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu to vie for their offices in 2027 for the second term.

The party made the call in a resolution that reached Calabar Wednesday after stakeholders met with Governor Bassey Otu at Hogus Hotel Calabar.

In a unanimous decision, the expanded caucus passed a vote of confidence and endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Governor Bassey Edet Otu, and Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Peter Odey for a second term in office come 2027.

The party urged President Tinubu to revisit the dredging of Calabar Port and assist Cross River State in executing the Bakassi Deep seaport projects and rail projects initiated by Gov. Bassey Otu’s administration.

The party stated that, by doing so, the state’s economy would receive a boost rather than overspending on revenue from federal allocation.

The caucus meeting chaired by the state  Commissioner for Education, Senator Stephen Odey, stated that based on the duo’s outstanding performance at the National and State levels, they deserved a second chance come 2027.

The party, which decried the marginalisation of Cross River State indigenes in the scheme of things at the National level,  constituted a delegation to be led by the state governor and eminent personalities to move to Abuja and meet with the President to deliberate on the issue.

Part of the clauses in the resolutions of the APC reads, “Cross Riverians are grateful for the President’s approval/ commencement of the Lagos – Calabar Coast Highway, which has

indeed affirmed the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“The Governor’s deliberate efforts in addressing the security challenges is highly commendable, and he is encouraged to sustain his security architecture in the State.
