Immediate-past governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has dissociated himself from comments circulating in the media regarding his alleged political aspirations in thr 2027 elections, describing them as unauthorised.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Media Adviser, Muyiwa Adekeye, El-Rufai made it clear that the remarks attributed to an individual described as his political associate do not reflect his views.
“Malam Nasir El-Rufai wishes to dissociate himself from comments regarding political aspirations which have been attributed to someone described by the media as a political associate. He did not authorise such comments,” the statement read.
The former governor emphasised his longstanding reputation for personally expressing his views, noting that he has always been direct in communicating his positions on national issues.
“Throughout his public life, Malam Nasir El-Rufai has been known for the frank articulation of his views. He is not about to outsource the expression of his political views and thoughts to others,” Adekeye stated.
The statement further clarified that any official communication from El-Rufai would continue to come directly from him or through his authorised channels.
“His public communication would continue to be issued directly by him or through his authorised spokesperson,” the statement added.
LEADERSHIP reports that El-Rufai, who was granted a N200m bail this Tuesday, is facing trials before different courts in Kaduna over alleged corruption and conferring undue advantage self.
