2027: I Have No Senatorial Ambition, Says Ortom

Former Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom, on Saturday, said he had no plans to contest the Benue North-West senatorial seat in 2027 elections.

The statement issued by Ortom’s Media Adviser/Consultant, Terver Akase, said the former governor of Benue State remained committed to supporting democratic ideals, strengthening his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and offering statesman-like guidance.

Ortom further stated that he would not chase elective office in 2027.

According to the statement, “Our attention has been drawn to yet another imaginative piece of fiction making the rounds on social media, claiming that the immediate past Governor of Benue State, Chief Samuel Ortom, has announced plans to contest the Benue North-West Senatorial seat in 2027.

“Ordinarily, such a poorly scripted tale would not deserve a response. However, for the sake of unsuspecting members of the public who might mistake fiction for fact, it has become necessary to set the record straight.

The statement added, “Chief Ortom has no intention whatsoever to contest any elective office in 2027. He has said this clearly, publicly, and repeatedly. One would expect that a position stated this plainly would not require translation or creative reinterpretation.

“The former governor sincerely appreciates the calls, messages, and genuine concern expressed by his supporters, friends, and party members since the fake report began to circulate.”
