Kogi East senatorial hopeful in the 2027 elections, Tim Diche, has warned that Nigeria’s escalating insecurity is “bleeding the nation” and threatening to overshadow the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

Speaking with LEADERSHIP in Abuja yesterday, Diche said Nigerians were  no longer impressed by government efforts, but by tangible outcomes that improve their daily safety and economic wellbeing.

“ The insecurity problem in Nigeria is degrading and diminishing the Tinubu government. The gains recorded massively under this present administration are terribly under a serious threat by the growing insecurity in this country,” he said.

Commenting on the recent genocide allegation made by U.S. President Donald Trump, Diche said the concerns could not be dismissed because they reflect the harsh realities Nigerians face.

“On the genocide allegation by President Trump, it is tied to the security of Nigerians. Many lives are lost in mass, and it is worrisome,” he stressed.

Despite the concerns, Diche applauded the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that the party had become more formidable under President Tinubu than during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

“APC has fared stronger under President Tinubu than under late President Buhari. Today, almost all PDP governors and leaders have virtually decamped into APC. We may soon become a one-party state. This is political strength for President Tinubu and the APC but we must redouble our efforts in the area of security to win people’s confidence,” he noted.

The APC chieftain equally commended Governor Usman Ododo’s efforts for his giant strides in the area of human development, but urged for a strategic reset of his economic and political reforms.

“Governor Ododo is doing his best. He should reset his economic and political reforms for the development and prosperity of citizens,” he said.
