The accountant-general of Nasarawa State, Musa Ahmed Mohammed, has declared his intention to run for the governorship seat in 2027.
Mohammed, a stalwart of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC), formally declared for the race at a mega rally organised in his honour yesterday in Lafia.
The event, which was held at the Lafia East Primary School, attracted a crowd of supporters from across the state.
Addressing the mammoth crowd, Mohammed said his entrance into the race was as a result of several months of pressure from elders, stakeholders and the masses of the state who see him as the right person to consolidate on the successes of his boss, Governor Abdullahi Sule.
He said that, working closely with the incumbent and as an ardent disciple, he has learned a lot from the governor’s wisdom and vision, which have placed Nasarawa as the fastest-developing state in the country today.
“I have learned from his resourcefulness. I have learned from his leadership skills. And I want to assure you that I will not disappoint you,” he promised.
The two-time Speaker of the State House of Assembly noted that, under pressure and in response to the clarion calls, he decided to sacrifice his position as the accountant general for the higher calling.
He commended Governor Sule for finding him worthy to have been appointed as the accountant general, a position he said gave him the opportunity of learning the act of governance.
He described Sule as one of the best governors in the country whose transformative strides have become a reference point to his peers in other states.
He said the governor has been not just the leader but a father to all and demonstrably carried everyone along.
He promised to always be guided by the governor’s many examples and track record if he eventually emerged in the end.
