The apex Igbo sociocultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has denied asking the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, to withdraw from contesting the 2027 presidential election.
Ohanaeze noted a misleading and mischief-driven statement did not emanate from the apex Igbo body.
Spokesman of the organisation, Dr Ezechi Chukwu in a statement on Tuesday, blamed “a group of clandestine starving street urchins, who parade a phantom ludicrous brown envelope Ohanaeze, with POS as their address.”
Chukwu added that every rational Igbo indigene and Nigerians know that Senator John Azuta Mbata-led Ohanaeze Ndigbo cannot issue such ignominious statement’ he stated.
He stressed that Ohanaeze Ndigbo is primarily committed to the general wellbeing of Igbo nation and national development, by extension through justice, fairness and equity.
He declared that as a non-partisan organisation, Ohanaeze has not in any way taken any stand on 2027 presidential election or adopted any Presidential candidate.
