The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), has said it is mobilising churches in Rivers State to wrestle power from politicians in the 2027 general election in the state.

It said it has already inaugurated its Directorate of Politics and Good Governance (DPG), to begin the sensitisation of Christians across the state to get their permanent voter’s cards (PVCs) ahead of the election.

PFN chairman in the state, Rev. Dr. Minaibi Dagogo-Jack, who addressed journalists in Port Harcourt yesterday, said the organisation is also mobilising the Churches to vote for a candidate that would be announced at the appropriate time.

Dagogo-Jack stated that the state has about 3.5 million registered voters, with members of the Pentecostal churches being the largest, the support from other Christian denominations in the state will clearly make the difference.

“Today being April 13, the PFN, Rivers State chapter has inaugurated officers into the Directorate of Politics and Good Governance. We have inaugurated officers from various wards and local government areas.

“Like I said the other time, the enthronement of righteous governance; Rivers State, as at the last registration has about 3.5 million registered voters. Only 303,000 voters could make a governor as at the last election, which is not up to 10 percent of registered voters in the state and yet the politicians are making noise and disturbing us.

“So, we are determined to mobilise our church people. The Pentecostals are large in Rivers State. Other denominations have called me to join this vision with us and we are serious about it.

“We have set up the DPG, charging them to do three things for us. One is increase their prayer methodology; they should do more prayers so that in this electioneering period, God will touch the conscience of those who call themselves politicians. We know that politicians don’t fear God anymore in Rivers State. We call ourselves a Christian state, yet we don’t have the fear of God.

“The second thing we are the DPG officers is that we are going on campaign for members of various churches to have their PVC. PVC revalidation will end this month and before it ends, go to various churches, charge them to get voter’s cards.

“Then, number three, we must mobilise the church to vote one candidate. Don’t forget, PFN is not partisan, we don’t want to believe in political party. We believe in the individual person. The same thing we told you last time, at the appropriate time, we will announce who the church will cast their vote for,” he said.
