The Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Political and Other Matters, Ibrahim Kabir Masari, has declared that the votes the All Progressives Congress (APC) will deliver for the President in the 2027 election will be more than double the votes secured by all opposition parties combined.
Masari made the declaration on Wednesday while delivering his speech at the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council at the State House, Abuja.
He assured Tinubu that members of the council would work to secure his re-election, pledging to mobilise voters across the country through grassroots engagement.
“Finally, I want to use this opportunity on behalf of the members of this council to assure Mr President that the votes that will be secured by all the opposition parties put together will not reach half of what this council will deliver for you, that, we promise and by the grace of Allah we will deliver,” he said.
Masari charged members of the campaign council to focus on winning voters at the grassroots rather than spending excessive time on meetings, political offices and activities in Abuja.
He said the party’s campaign must prioritise polling units, wards, local governments and communities, where voters could be reached and persuaded to support Tinubu’s re-election bid.
“Politics is at the grassroots; it is about our polling units, wards, local governments and communities,” he said.
He urged APC leaders to reduce unnecessary visits to Abuja and party offices, as well as excessive directorate meetings, and instead devote their time to engaging Nigerians and convincing them to vote for the party.
“Stop talking to yourselves and start talking to the people,” Masari said.
The presidential aide also warned against making promises and announcing projected vote figures that could not be delivered, disclosing that the government would establish mechanisms to assess campaign officials based on their actual performance at the grassroots.
According to him, officials would be assessed on the votes they deliver in their respective states, local government areas, wards and polling units rather than the volume of their promises.
He said the era in which party officials claimed to deliver huge numbers of votes without producing corresponding results must end.
Masari also called on members of the campaign council to maintain unity, discipline and teamwork, urging them to put the collective interest of the APC above personal ambitions.
He appealed to party members to embrace politics without bitterness, reconcile their differences and support all APC candidates ahead of the 2027 general election.
Addressing the Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, Masari said President Tinubu and members of the council had confidence in his leadership.
He urged Yari to unite the council, harness the strengths of its members and ensure that the campaign operated as a disciplined and coordinated team.
Masari further said the APC’s campaign should be anchored on the administration’s policies, achievements and future plans, particularly in education, healthcare, economic reforms and infrastructure development.
He urged campaign officials to explain the administration’s investments in roads, railways, ports, power and other critical infrastructure, while demonstrating how the projects were intended to improve productivity and create economic opportunities.
He also called on the council to engage Nigerians respectfully, listen to their concerns and respond with facts.
Masari described the assignment as a responsibility that required sacrifice, discipline and commitment, adding that the success of the campaign would depend on the ability of party leaders to translate their political organisation into votes.
He said the council would be judged by the results it delivered rather than the speeches made at the inauguration.
