A youth group, the Koko-Besse/Maiyama Progressive Youth Forum has appealed to the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu to redouble his efforts towards the 2027 reelection of President Bola Tinubu.

The group noted that the minister, serving in one of the strategic sectors on President Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda was better positioned to ensure the victory of Tinubu in 2027 and offering his best ideas for the development of the country at the centre.

In a statement signed by its Interim Chairman, Musa Bello Koko, the Forum maintained that Senator Bagudu stands a good chance to also unite members of his party for grassroots support to boost the fortune of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a statesman, and end internal crisis within the state chapter of the party.

Koko also appealed to the minister to listen to the people of Kebbi Central Senatorial District by supporting the emergence of a new candidate to represent the district in 2027.

“Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu as a two-term governor of Kebbi State and serving minister in one of the key sectors delivering on the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu is best positioned today to unite the members of our party – All Progressives Congress (APC) for us to deliver the president in 2027 and retain Kebbi State for our party.

“The Minister should also, as a matter of statesmanship, embrace the call for a new candidate to emerge as the Senator for Kebbi Central. Our people will continue to encourage him to give President Tinubu the needed support at the centre while he blesses someone else as the senator for Kebbi Central,” Koko said.

He attributed the crisis bedeviling the APC and the state to what he called closure of opportunity against younger persons in seeking elective positions to showcase their leadership potential.

“Senator Badugu has achieved all that is achievable in politics in Kebbi State and as a federal minister, it is important for him as a respected leader to midwife a process where younger ones are allowed to showcase leadership and demonstrate performance.

“We, the people of Koko-Besse/Maiyama as one of the strongest constituencies in Kebbi Central stand united in our plea to appease Senator Bagudu in this call.

“We hope the minister will hear us loud and clear, and we hope he will choose legacy for posterity in the general interest of our state, the APC and fairness as a respected statesman and leader,” Koko said.
