A statement signed by the taskforce’s Public Relations Officer, Comrade Abdullahi Waiya said the operation was conducted between March 3 and 13, 2025.

The operation was carried out in collaboration with personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigerian Correctional Service, Nigeria Immigration Service and the Vigilante Group.

Items seized from the suspects included 283 parcels and 14 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Cannabis Sativa, a cutlass, three scissors, a pointed iron, two bottles of ‘suck and die’ (a toxic substance), 13 packets of knockouts (bangers), and a rubber solution.

Waiya said that the suspects have been arraigned before Chief Magistrate Court located at No. 12, Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), where they will face prosecution.

In response to growing concerns over criminal activities, the taskforce has reaffirmed the ban on “Tashe,” a traditional Ramadan performance that officials say has become a cover for hooliganism.

The use of knockouts (bangers) has also been strictly prohibited, with warnings that violators will face legal consequences.

Chairman of the taskforce, Hon. Ibrahim Kofar Mata commended the security personnel for their efforts and urged residents to cooperate with authorities in ensuring peace and stability across Kano State.

Meanwhile, the public has been encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.
