Our correspondent gathered that the landmine explosion was buried on the highway by Boko Haram terrorists.

Disclosing the attack on the condition of anonymity, a security source said the explosive device was allegedly planted by Boko Haram insurgents and detonated along the Maiduguri-Damboa highway.

The source said, “A deadly explosion occurred on the Maiduguri–Damboa highway earlier today, resulting in the confirmed deaths of three individuals, with several others critically injured.

“We pray for the souls of the departed and for the quick recovery of the injured.”

It could be recalled that two staff members of the Damboa Local Education Authority (LEA) were killed last Monday in a bomb blast along the Damboa–Maiduguri highway.

In the renewed attacks, the terrorists have resorted to the planting of landmines targeting travellers and motorists plying major Borno highways, with several casualties recorded in the recent time from such attacks.

Although, terrorists are also paying the price for their atrocities through various onslaught by the Nigerian military’s offensives in the Sambisa Forest and their other enclaves across the State through clearance operations.
