31-yr-old Man Jumps Into Well, Dies In Kwara

A tragic incident struck in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Sunday as a 31-year-old man identified as Abdullateef jumped into a domestic well and died in the process.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the tragic event occurred at Bolarinwa Compound, Centre Igboro area of Ilorin, Kwara State capital at about 4 am.

Sources said AbdulLateef had previously made unsuccessful attempts at jumping into the well before the Sunday incident.

Spokesperson of the Kwara State Fire Service, Hakeem Adekunle, confirmed that firefighters had recovered AbdulLateef’s body from the domestic well.

Adekunle said the agency has also handed AbdulLateef’s body to the head of his family, Alh Bolarinwa, for burial.

“Firefighters conducted a professional recovery operation, and his lifeless body was retrieved from the well and subsequently handed over to the head of the family, Alhaji Bolarinwa,” Adekunle said.

The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John, expressed deep sadness over the tragic incident and extended heartfelt condolences to the Bolarinwa family.

He urged the public to remain vigilant and attentive to individuals exhibiting signs of distress or suicidal tendencies, emphasising that early intervention and close monitoring can prevent such unforeseen tragedies.
