The First Lady of Gombe State, Hajiya Dr. Asmau Inuwa Yahaya, has brought fresh hope to hundreds of families with the flag-off of the Renewed Hope/Tony Elumelu Foundation Women Economic Empowerment Programme in Gombe.

At a ceremony, 500 women entrepreneurs received small business recapitalisation grants, giving them the boost they need to grow their businesses, provide for their children, and secure a brighter future for their families.

The atmosphere was charged with excitement as many of the beneficiaries described the support as “a lifeline”. For women who have struggled to keep their small shops, farms, and trades afloat, the intervention represents more than money, it is dignity restored and hope renewed.

Speaking at the event, Hajiya Asmau Inuwa Yahaya said: “When you empower a woman, you empower an entire family and by extension the society. This programme is not just about financial support; it is about giving our women the chance to dream bigger, do better, and build a legacy for their children.”

The First Lady urged the beneficiaries to invest the grants wisely, stressing that the initiative was designed to break cycles of poverty and open new doors of opportunity.
