73 Schools Ready For Gombe Inter-schools Athletics Championships

No fewer than 73 schools across the 11 local government areas of Gombe State have registered to participate in the 2025 Gombe State Inter-Secondary Schools Athletics Championships.

The highly anticipated event, scheduled to hold at the prestigious Pantami Township Stadium in Gombe Metropolis, will kick off between Sunday, January 19 and 25, 2025.

The competition which will feature young athletes from both public and private schools aims at promoting sportsmanship, uncover young talents and foster youth development.

Participants will compete in varieties of events, including 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 3000m races, 4x100m and 4x400m relays, shot put, long jump, high jump, triple jump, and javelin throw, among others.

Football matches are also scheduled, with youth football teams for boys competing in exciting games leading to the finals.

According to the organisers, scouts from Germany led by a former captain of Flying Eagles, a UEFA licence coach, Adrew Uwe and Coach Henry Ambrose from AGIC-Diaspora Football Outreach will be in Gombe to scout for talents during the Principal’s Cup football Competition.
