Eight hospitals in Ibadan, Oyo State, reportedly rejected late gospel singer Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, after he slumped in the early hours of Wednesday, October 14, his media aide, Babadunni Gbolabo, has said.
Speaking at the singer’s residence in the Alakia area of Ibadan, Gbolabo said Toluwanisings had been in good health before he suddenly collapsed.
“He was not sick; he was very fine and in perfect condition,” Gbolabo said. “He just slumped, and people made frantic efforts to resuscitate him. All the hospitals where he was rushed to rejected him. In some of the facilities, they said their doctors were on strike. In others, they claimed their doctors were unavailable.”
The aide said those who rushed the singer for medical attention visited as many as eight medical facilities across Ibadan in a desperate attempt to secure emergency treatment, but none attended to him before he was eventually pronounced dead and his body deposited in a mortuary.
The incident occurred less than 24 hours after Toluwanisings performed alongside other prominent gospel artistes at In His Presence, a monthly worship concert organised by Bidemi Olaoba in Ibadan.
Born in Osun State, Toluwanisings rose to prominence in 2021 after social media influencer Woli Agba shared one of his songs online.
The singer was known for hit tracks including Eleda, I’m Not Alone and A Very Big God. He also survived a serious road accident in July 2026.
He is survived by his 31-year-old wife and two children.
