No fewer than 95 youths in Kano State have been trained in digital entrepreneurship skills, focusing on leveraging artificial intelligence and digital applications in agro-production, marketing, and value-chain production.
The initiative aims to address youth unemployment, promote self-reliance and boost agricultural production in the state.
The youths trained by the London Academy Business School(LABS), University of Sunderland, UK, in partnership with the AA Zaura Foundation International, were awarded a diploma certificate over the weekend in Kano.
During their graduation ceremony, Abdulsalam Abdulkarim, founder of AA Zaura Foundation International, said the program would enable youth to create opportunities instead of waiting for them.
He explained that the initiative empowers graduates to build viable agri-tech businesses, attract investment, and create jobs while using digital tools to transform agriculture, scale productivity, and solve real-world challenges.
āThe goal is to lead agriculture from soil to screen and connect local markets to the global marketplace,ā he stated.
However, he urged the government to provide an enabling environment through policies, investments, mentorship, and infrastructure to integrate youth into larger value chains and drive rebirth in Nigeriaās agricultural and technological entrepreneurship.
While restating the foundationās commitment to youth empowerment and fostering inclusive prosperity, Abdulkarim urged the graduates to use the knowledge acquired judiciously to lead and feed communities digitally for sustainable development.
Speaking earlier, the country director of LABS, Dr. Abdullahi Usman, noted that as businesses have changed and gone digital, training on that aspect is needed to gain more.
He highlighted that Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital entrepreneurship training is the first of its kind, carefully designed to meet the needs of entrepreneurs who need to change their mindsets to succeed.
While appreciating the LABS, the federal Ministry of Education, and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for their support, he noted that the training was comprehensive and included hands-on practical training.
He added that the certificate is accepted nationally and in the UK, which can be used to earn a degree program.
