The lady captain of the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Mrs Comfort Olateju, has urged career women who are mothers to dedicate more time to the development of their children.

She gave the advice at the Children’s Day celebration organised by the ladies section of the IBB Golf Club for over 200 children in Abuja.

According to her, it is important for parents, especially mothers, to maintain a balance in their work and family if they want their children to grow to be responsible and successful adults.

On why the group decided to celebrate the day with children, Olateju added that the group was committed to nurturing young minds and shaping future leaders, saying by instilling values of generosity, compassion and leadership in the children, it will pave for a brighter tomorrow.

“Giving, loving and leading are all the cornerstones of humanity, love knows no boundaries and is not bound by age, race or background and authentic leadership lies in our ability to inspire, motivate and guide those around us,” she said.

The director-general of NAPTIP, Dame Julie Donli Okoh, who doubled as the vice lady captain of the golf club, on her part, said children’s upbringing is the primary responsibility of a parent, not the teachers in the school nor the government to do so.
